Welcome to seventh grade!!

Welcome to Mrs. Chlanda's home page !

Please feel free to contact me anytime by email kchlanda@shschools.com. I will try to respond within 48 hours.

We will begtin the year with the CMP2 module Data Distributions. Students will be working on the followingstate standards for data:

7.D.1  Select, create, interpret, and utilize the following tabular and graphical representations of data: circle graphs, Venn diagrams, stem-and-leaf plots, tables, and charts.

7.D.2  Find, describe, and interpret appropriate measures of central tendency (mean, median, and mode) and spread (range) that represent a set of data. Use these notions to compare different sets of data.

I have high expectations for my students and I know you all will be up to the challenge!

I expect every student to have a one-inch three ring binder, dividers, pencils (we use pencil in math ,with a few exceptions), ruler, cheap calculator(they have them at the dollar store) and filler paper (not college rule).

Yes, there is homework every night , including Friday. Homework in math, helps your student to practice skills we are learning and review skills from past learning experiences. If your child is still struggling with multiplication tables,5 minutes of review a night will help them to become fluent. They willl receive a math skills packet on Friday. For most students, it will be a review of arithmetic skills

I have a 1/2 hour rule for homework. If your student has spent a dedicated 1/2 hour on his/her homework and is not finished, just sign the homework. If they are having trouble with one particular problem, they should jot down what is confusing them and go on to the other problems. If they do this they will get full credit for doing the homework.

I will be available for extra help every  Tuesday morning from 7:00-7:50. Please take advantage of the extra help offered.

What are our classroom procedures?

In the first  few weeks we will discuss various class procedures and get a chance to practice them. Because I intend to provide a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and where all students know they are safe and welcome, I expect everyone to:

Be prepared for class. Students must bring all items listed for each subject every day. Preparation will be a part of a student’s grade.(This will be 5% of your grade)

Enter the room quietly and be seated in the correct seat.

Follow instructions on the overhead projector immediately upon entering the room.

Respect all learners in the classroom!!!
